2010 AGALI Fellows – Liberia

Hawa Bropleh, MA is the Executive Director of the Centre for Liberian Assistance, which focuses on girls’ education, sexual and reproductive health, and access to safe spaces. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in School Administration, and has received training at Holy Hill Seminary in Berkeley, California.
Aisha Cooper Bruce, BSc currently serves as the Program Director of Sisters With Power (SWP), a girls’ empowerment program of Helping Our People Excel (HOPE), Inc. She also works as the Senior BCC Officer at Population Services International-Liberia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies, specializing in the areas of Youth Development, Leadership Development and Behavior Change Communication.
S. Eric Dentor serves as the Case Liaison Officer of the Sexual & Gender Based Violence Crimes Unit (SGBV CU), in the Ministry of Justice, Liberia. He is currently studying Sociology and Public Administration at the University of Liberia.
Kula V. Fofana serves as the Executive Director of the Paramount Young Women Initiative (PAYOWI), an organization aimed at advocating, empowering and educating adolescent girls and young women to enable them to contribute meaningfully to their society and world. She is also one of four hosts of a youth radio program geared toward educating young people on the prevention of HIV, STIs, and unintended pregnancies. Kula is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Sociology at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) in Liberia.
T. Edwin Kamara is the founder of Alliance for Youth Development & Advocacy (AYDA) an organization which enhances youth capacity in Community-Based Organizations, Human Rights & Protection, and Civic Education & Governance through training and mentoring. He also serves as the Youth Programs Coordinator with the Children Assistance Program, where he coordinates business development training and mentoring activities for 13 adolescent girls clubs, manages reproductive health services for girl mothers, and maintains youth friendly spaces. He holds advanced diplomas in social work and human resources, certificates in Community Development, Project Design/Monitoring & Evaluation, Participatory Planning & Budgeting, and Poverty Reduction; and is currently a candidate for a Bachelor’s in Social Work.
Rosana D. H. Schaack, RN is the Executive Director of Touching Humanity In Need of Kindness (THINK) a home for war affected adolescent girls and young women. The home provides shelter, protection, medical care, psychosocial support and counseling, academic classes, vocational skills training, life skills training including reproductive health, awareness about HIV/AIDS, prevention and response to violence, peace building, parenting and child care. Rosana also serves as the Program Manager for Child Protection at Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, Liberia. She has earned a Bachelor’s degree in the Science of Nursing and is a Registered Nurse. In 2008 and 2009 she studied in the United States as a Humphrey Fellow.
