Project Title: “Youth Root-Net”

In Ethiopia, AGALI Fellow Ephrem Berhanu and TaYa are working to increase funding to youth-led sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV/AIDS programs. Working within the legal context of the national Civil Society Organization Law, this project focuses on advocating with the Ministry of Health for the appropriation of 10% of the total HIV/AIDS SRH funds to youth-directed development organizations in Ethiopia. Programs developed by youth for youth are often under-funded, and do not focus their limited resources on the needs of girls. Using a diverse set of advocacy strategies, including lobbying, media outreach, and workshops, TaYa is working to address the SRH needs of adolescent girls throughout Ethiopia.
